How far in advance should I book my move?
For the best availability, we recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance, especially during peak moving season (late spring through early fall) and around month-end dates. Need last-minute movers in the Portland metro? Contact us and we will do our best to fit your schedule.
How do I get started?

What affects the cost of my move?
Your cost depends on the size of your home or office, the distance between locations, access conditions such as stairs or long carries, and the services you select (full-service, labor-only, packing, and so on). We provide free, no-obligation estimates so you know what to expect before moving day.

Do you offer packing services, or do I need to pack everything myself?
You choose what works best. Budget Movers offers full packing, partial packing, and packing-only services. We can pack your entire home, focus on fragile or high-value items, or simply supply professional-quality packing materials if you prefer to pack yourself.
Can you just help with loading or unloading my rental truck or storage container?
Yes. We offer labor-only services where our professional movers load or unload rental trucks, portable containers, and storage units. It is a great option if you already have transportation arranged and just need experienced help with the heavy lifting.
Do you move apartments and high-rise buildings?
Absolutely. We regularly handle apartment and condo moves, including high-rise buildings with elevators and loading docks. We are familiar with downtown Portland logistics and will coordinate with you on any building rules or elevator reservations your move requires.
Can you handle moves in rainy or winter weather?
Yes. As a local moving company in the Portland area, we are used to rain and changing conditions. Our crews take extra precautions to protect your belongings, floors, and entryways, and to complete your move safely and efficiently in any weather.
Licensing, Insurance, and Pricing
Are you licensed and insured to operate in Oregon and interstate?
Yes. Budget Movers is fully licensed, bonded, and insured for moves within Oregon and for qualifying interstate moves (USDOT 2592601, ODOT 167755). Your belongings are protected while we handle and transport them, and we comply with all state and federal moving regulations.
Why do your rates look the way they do?
Our rates reflect what it costs to run a legitimate, fully protected moving company. Workers’ compensation insurance protects you and our movers if something happens on the job site. We carry $1,000,000 in commercial liability coverage any time our company is at your door, $1,000,000 in truck coverage, and $750,000 in cargo coverage. We pay payroll taxes on every paycheck, and we pay our movers a livable wage that starts at no less than $17.00 per hour. Oregon also requires licensed and insured moving companies to follow a regulated pricing structure, which is why you will see similar rates across most reputable movers. The difference is in how the job gets done.
